Even though Capricorn season spans December and January, the archetype of Capricorn is present at all times of year and in every birth chart so it benefits everyone to deepen their relationship with the uncapricious climber. By painting the essence of this energy you will unlock your connection to the stability of earth and the ambitious nature of this cardinal sign.
Astrology is a way of telling time and bringing symbols, archetypes, and elements to how we experience and make meaning of our lives. It's a symbolic language of change. A connection to the spirit of life and the diverse forms this energy takes. Capricorn is the seasonal time of year in the tropical zodiac when the light begins to return in the Northern Hemisphere.
Elementally Capricorn is Cardinal Earth.
It is the first steps we take on a long journey.
It is the energy of initiation that leads to legacy.
It the sea goat... emerging from the waters of spirit into the manifested reality of earth.
It's the builder and the architect of dreams.
But have you ever wondered: What does Capricorn feel like?
And if you were to put that on paper, what would it look like?
When I began studying astrology I wanted to have a embodied sense of each sign of the zodiac. It seemed that nothing I read would stick in my brain. It felt too much like memorization.
In order to find the essence of each sign I began drawing and painting the elements of the zodiac (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) and then each of the three modalities of those elements (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable).
I wanted to be able access it within myself.
Not to look outside to other people's interpretations, but have a direct relationship.
I turned the language of the zodiac into abstract, geometric, and organic shapes, with color, direction and movement according to the qualities of each one. It was a way of connecting with the natural world and unique energetic and elemental qualities.
I call this approach Painting Essence, for now. It is such an enlightening process and I want you to experience it for yourself!
It's truly amazing what is possible when we bring creative curiosity to our relationship with these elemental themes. So much healing is waiting for you to pick up your brush.
